About this project

LEAFPURE ECO SOAP is an eco-friendly dishwashing soap bar developed by converting used cooking oil into a useful household cleaning product. Improper disposal of used cooking oil can cause blocked drains, unpleasant smells, water pollution, and harm to aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, this project aims to provide a practical solution for reducing kitchen waste while promoting sustainable household practices. The soap is produced through a saponification process using waste cooking oil and is enhanced with curry leaf extract (Murraya koenigii), which contains natural compounds associated with antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. The product is designed for daily dishwashing of plates, cups, cutlery, and food containers. LEAFPURE ECO SOAP also supports the circular economy by transforming waste into a valuable and biodegradable household product. In addition, its low-cost production provides opportunities for households, restaurants, and local communities to produce and sell the soap as a small-scale business. The project also promotes community workshops and collaboration with food service businesses to encourage used cooking oil collection and sustainable soap production. Overall, LEAFPURE ECO SOAP offers a simple, affordable, and environmentally friendly approach to managing used cooking oil while supporting cleaner kitchens and communities.

LEAFPURE ECO SOAP is competing at the International Entrepreneurship Convention 2026, 7 and 8 October, Putrajaya.
