About this project
Fabric waste has become a significant environmental issue due to the growth of the fashion industry and persistently low global recycling rates. Despite increasing attention to sustainable consumption, public knowledge of fabric waste management remains limited, particularly at the community level in rural areas of Kedah, Malaysia. This project aims to develop an interactive educational website to raise public awareness of fabric waste and evaluate its effectiveness as an online learning platform. The study adopts a qualitative research approach guided by the ADDIE instructional design model, which consists of five phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The website was developed using Google Sites and incorporates multimedia elements, including infographics, videos, and interactive content, to support learning and engagement. Evaluation was conducted through alpha testing with academic specialists and beta testing with general users, including students, lecturers, and waste management specialists. Primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed thematically. The findings indicate that the website demonstrated strong usability, content clarity, and relevance, while helping users improve their awareness and understanding of sustainable fabric waste management practices. Participants also reported increased knowledge, positive behavioural intentions, and support for the platform as a learning resource. Overall, the project demonstrates the potential of accessible, low-cost digital platforms to support community-based environmental education and sustainable development.
