Mauve.KL Sustainable Fashion Initiative
Creating More Value, Not More Waste
The team
About this project
Sustainable Fashion through Mauve.KL addresses the growing problem of textile waste, overproduction and unsustainable consumption in the fashion industry while creating meaningful economic opportunities for local micro-tailors. We built a responsible fashion business model that combines limited production, thoughtful design, direct fabric sourcing from producing countries such as India, Indonesia and Thailand, and local garment production in Malaysia. The project is designed for consumers who value quality, exclusivity and more conscious purchasing choices, particularly working women with the spending power to invest in longer-lasting fashion pieces. At the same time, every purchase helps support the income and livelihood of small-scale local tailors. Instead of producing large quantities that may go unsold. Mauve.KL focuses on creating fewer, higher-value garments with greater social impact. By balancing design, quality, sustainability and community support, the project encourages consumers to see fashion as more than a short-term purchase. It matters because fashion can create lasting value while reducing unnecessary waste and strengthening local livelihoods.
