About this project
Global Islamic finance assets reached US$5.98 trillion in 2024 and are projected to
reach US$9.7 trillion by 2029 (ICD-LSEG Islamic Finance Development Report 2025).
Every product in that market is reviewed against scripture and juristic reasoning by a
Shariah Committee, which Malaysian regulation makes statutory (BNM SGPD 2019) and which
costs audited Malaysian institutions between RM 75,000 and RM 767,000 a year. At the
same time, general-purpose AI has entered religious question answering, and it
fabricates: it invents verses, misattributes hadith, and cannot show a chain of
transmission.
Al-Mizan is a knowledge graph that answers only from verified sources. Every response
returns the chain back to a named verse, hadith or scholar. Where it cannot answer, it
refuses instead of guessing. The scripture tier is immutable at the database itself, so
no software update can alter it unnoticed. On the IslamicEval 2025 citation-detection
task it scores 0.5231 macro-F1 by corpus alignment alone, with no model and no training.
The public layer is free permanently, funded by a developer API (RM 199 and RM 999 a
month, with keys, quotas and metering enforced) and by enterprise work quoted in writing
while that price is tested. Al-Mizan is pre-revenue, with no paying customer yet, and
says so. The aim is that a Muslim, a developer and a regulator can each check the same answer against the same sources.
